Morinda citrifolia is a fruit-bearing tree in the Rubiaceae (coffee) family. Polynesian sailors spread it throughout the Pacific from its original area in Southeast Asia and Australasia.  The species is now widely naturalized and cultivated across the tropics. The more frequent English names for the fruit are giant morinda, Indian mulberry, noni, beach mulberry, and cheese fruit, which are among the fruit’s 100 names throughout different locales.
